Bio
Cyrus Creativita (born Oliver Obeng Asare in Koforidua, Ghana) is a multidisciplinary visual artist whose work reflects the resilience, spirituality, and everyday beauty of African life. Blending sculpture, painting, design, and digital art, he merges contemporary expression with indigenous Ghanaian heritage through Adinkra symbolism, traditional motifs, and vivid storytelling.
Growing up “in the heart of the hills,” Cyrus developed a distinct visual language marked by bold colors, expressive figures, and textured forms that explore identity, culture, and the human journey. His relief sculptures reimagine ancestral narratives in clay, while his paintings portray market women, fishermen, workers, and ordinary Ghanaian heroes with emotional depth and authenticity. His digital and wearable art extends these traditions into modern spaces.
Cyrus also serves as an art educator at Koforidua SHTS, nurturing young creatives with passion and purpose. His works have appeared in community exhibitions and are steadily gaining recognition for their cultural rootedness and compelling storytelling. Guided by his motto, “From the heart of the hills, creativity flows,” he continues to build a body of work that preserves culture and celebrates the evolving African spirit.
Artist Statement
My work explores Ghanaian identity, mythology, and everyday life by blending indigenous symbolism with contemporary expression. I use Adinkra motifs, cultural narratives, and scenes from daily Ghanaian experience to create art that bridges memory, spirituality, and modern visual language.
Across painting, relief sculpture, and digital design, I merge bold colors, textured surfaces, and expressive forms to celebrate resilience, community, womanhood, and the dignity of ordinary people. Whether depicting market women, ancestral myths, or symbolic patterns, my goal is to honor cultural heritage while reimagining it for today’s generation.
As an artist and educator, I see creativity as an inheritance from land, ancestry, and spirit. My work is both a preservation and a transformation of tradition — a way to celebrate who we are and who we are becoming. From the heart of the hills, creativity flows, and I share that flow through every piece I create.

Queen of the Market Red
Queen of the Market Red” celebrates the strength, pride, and warmth of Ghanaian womanhood. The painting captures a tomato seller in her daily rhythm, surrounded by the vibrant red glow of her trade — a colour that symbolizes life, endurance, and abundance. Through rich textures, patterned fabric, and subtle Adinkra undertones, the work honours the women who fuel our communities with tireless energy and unwavering joy. This piece stands as a tribute to the everyday queens whose labour keeps the nation alive.

Tsali
“Tsali” is a sculptural tribute to the legendary Ewe hero Togbe Tsali, a fearless mystic whose story echoes across generations. According to Ewe oral history, Togbe Tsali was captured and cast into the Volta Lake to die. But instead of drowning, he was miraculously seen seated upon the back of a crocodile, alive and untouchable — a symbol of spiritual mastery, resilience, and divine protection.

Unshackled Resolve
This is a sculptural declaration of strength rising from suffering — a testament to the human spirit’s refusal to remain bound. Cast in resin and finished in a metallic patina, the clenched fist emerges from a base reminiscent of machinery and endurance, symbolizing the relentless grind of life’s systems. Chains wrap the wrist, heavy and oppressive, yet the fist rises above them — firm, unbroken, and defiant.
